Representatives of institutions and civil society in Bosnia and Herzegovina met on 22 July 2026 to review the allocation of public funding to civil society organisations by state-level institutions.
The meeting was the second consultation on an analysis of the legal framework and of current practice. The analysis is being conducted by the Centres for Civic Initiatives together with the Ministry of Justice, within the project Resource Centre for Civil Society Organisations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as foreseen by the Council of Ministers' Strategy for an Enabling Environment for Civil Society Development 2025-2029. The process is ongoing and its recommendations are not yet final.
Public funding constitutes a central element of the enabling environment for civil society, and comparable reforms are under way elsewhere in the region.
