The standard we apply
This website is built to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. That is a firm target for this programme, not an aspiration, and it is verified as part of quality assurance before each release rather than asserted.
In practice the things we hold ourselves to include: every page usable from the keyboard alone, with the focus always visible; text that stays readable at 200% zoom without scrolling sideways; a contrast ratio that meets or beats the standard on every piece of text and every control; touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels, filter chips and calendar cells included; no error, status or beneficiary indicated by colour alone; and motion suppressed for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion.
What we know is not yet right
Three things, stated plainly:
- The events calendar scrolls sideways on a narrow screen. A month grid does not fit a phone at a readable size, so the grid scrolls inside its own container rather than shrinking the text. The same events are also published as an ordinary list, which does not scroll sideways, and that list is the better route on a small screen.
- Material embedded from other platforms is not ours to fix. Video players and social feeds come from the platforms that host them and carry their accessibility, not ours. Nothing embedded loads until you accept it, and where a platform offers no accessible embed we link out instead. Where a video is ours, a transcript is published beside it and is not behind the consent gate.
- Documents published as PDF vary. Where a PDF comes from another institution we cannot always guarantee it is tagged for a screen reader. Where the underlying figures are ours, the same data is published on the page itself and as a CSV, so the PDF is never the only way to reach it.
How to tell us about a barrier
Write to info@hajde4eu.org. It helps if you can tell us the address of the page, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way — including the browser or assistive technology you were using, if you know it.
We aim to acknowledge within five working days and to tell you what we are going to do about it. If something we publish is unusable for you and the fix will take time, ask us for the content in another form and we will provide it.
When this was last reviewed
This statement was last reviewed on 26 August 2026, against an automated audit of every page template plus manual keyboard-only and screen-reader passes.
Awaiting confirmation from the Project. An independent external accessibility audit has not been carried out. We recommend one before launch and it is not included in the base contract; the Project has been asked to decide whether to commission it.
